1. Definitions
Throughout these Terms and Conditions, the following terms carry the meanings described below:
- Agreement — these Terms and Conditions, together with any written service estimate or intake record issued by us.
- Service — the watch repair, restoration, strap fitting, or related work performed by Ayutthaya Chronos.
- We / Us / Our — Ayutthaya Chronos, operating from 56/12 U-Thong Road, Pratu Chai, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya 13000, Thailand.
- User / You / Your — any person who accesses our website or engages our workshop services.
- Content — all text, images, descriptions, and materials published on our website.
- Piece / Item — any timepiece, watch, chronometer, or component deposited with us for servicing.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing our website or depositing a piece with our workshop, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Agreement. If you are acting on behalf of another person, you confirm you have the authority to bind them to these terms.
Use of our services is intended for individuals aged 18 and above, or for those who have obtained parental or guardian consent where required by applicable law.
If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please refrain from using the website or engaging our services.
3. Service Description
Ayutthaya Chronos provides specialist horological services from our workshop in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. Our current offerings include heritage wristwatch restoration, strap and bracelet replacement, and marine chronometer and deck watch servicing.
Services are available to clients in Thailand and, by arrangement, to international clients who are able to arrange secure transit of their pieces. We make no commitment to service every enquiry and reserve the right to decline work that falls outside our current capacity or technical scope.
Workshop availability and turnaround estimates are communicated at the time of intake. We will notify you of any significant changes to agreed timelines.
4. User Responsibilities
When depositing a piece with our workshop, you confirm that you are the legal owner or have the owner's written authority to authorise the work. You agree to provide accurate contact information and to remain reachable throughout the service period.
When using our website, you agree not to: attempt to access restricted areas of the site; use automated tools to scrape or index content without permission; submit false or misleading information through our contact form; or engage in any activity that disrupts the normal operation of the site.
Pieces left uncollected for more than 90 days after the completion notice has been sent may be subject to additional storage charges. After 12 months without contact, we reserve the right to treat uncollected items in accordance with applicable Thai law on abandoned property.
5. Intellectual Property
All content on this website — including text, photography, graphic elements, and layout — is owned by or licensed to Ayutthaya Chronos. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or adapt this material without our prior written consent.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to view and print content from this website for your own personal, non-commercial reference only.
The names, marks, and geometric motifs associated with Ayutthaya Chronos are not available for use by third parties without written agreement.
6. Payment Terms
Service estimates are provided in Thai Baht (฿) and are valid for 30 days from the date of issue. Final invoiced amounts may differ from initial estimates where additional work is identified during disassembly, subject to your prior approval.
Payment is due on collection of the completed piece, or as otherwise agreed in writing. We accept cash and bank transfer. International clients should contact us to confirm available payment arrangements before shipping.
Where work has been commenced, the cost of labour and any parts sourced or fabricated to that point is payable even if you choose to withdraw the commission. Parts that have been ordered or fabricated specifically for your piece are charged at cost.
Refunds are considered where work has not commenced and a written cancellation is received within 48 hours of the intake record being issued. Deposits paid for specialist parts or materials are not refundable once those items have been ordered.
7. Workshop Service Terms
Condition assessment. We assess each piece before committing to a scope of work. Our estimates are based on visual and functional inspection; further findings may emerge during disassembly. We will consult you before proceeding with any work not covered by the original estimate.
Irreversible steps. Where a proposed treatment is irreversible — for example, dial cleaning or case polishing — we will seek your written approval before proceeding. We do not carry out cosmetic work without specific instruction.
Original components. We retain original components wherever functionally possible. Replaced parts are returned to you alongside the completed piece, unless you indicate otherwise.
Turnaround. Estimated completion times are given in good faith. Complex work, particularly on marine chronometers, may require two to three months. We will keep you informed of progress and will not rush work in a way that compromises quality.
Documentation. We provide a written condition report with completed work. Photographic documentation accompanies major restorations and all marine chronometer services.
8. Disclaimers
Our website is provided for informational purposes and is offered as it stands. While we take care to keep information accurate, we make no representations about the completeness or currency of content and do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or free from technical errors.
Descriptions of our services are general in nature. The outcome of any particular restoration depends on the condition of the piece, the availability of compatible components, and other factors specific to the work. We do not make any representation about the market value of a piece before or after service.
Nothing on this website constitutes professional horological advice applicable to your specific piece without our direct assessment.
9. Limitation of Liability
Where a piece in our care is damaged due to our negligence, our liability is limited to the reasonable cost of repair or, where repair is not possible, the fair market value of the piece at the time of deposit, as agreed between the parties or as assessed by an independent appraiser.
We are not liable for pre-existing condition issues that become apparent during servicing, for damage attributable to the age or fragility of the piece, or for loss resulting from circumstances outside our reasonable control including flood, fire, theft, or other events of force majeure.
Our total liability under this Agreement, howsoever arising, shall not exceed the amount you have paid us for the specific service in question. We exclude liability for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of sentimental value, to the extent permitted by Thai law.
10. Indemnification
You agree to hold harmless and indemnify Ayutthaya Chronos, its staff, and collaborating craftspersons from any claims, costs, or losses arising from: your provision of inaccurate information at intake; your failure to disclose relevant ownership or provenance information; or your breach of any term of this Agreement.
This clause does not limit your statutory rights as a consumer under applicable Thai consumer protection legislation.
11. Termination
You may withdraw a commission at any time by notifying us in writing. Where work has not commenced, we will return the piece without charge beyond any agreed deposit. Where work is in progress, the provisions in Section 6 apply.
We reserve the right to decline or discontinue work where we have reasonable grounds to believe that a piece has been reported stolen, that the commission involves misrepresentation, or that proceeding would expose us or third parties to legal risk.
Provisions relating to intellectual property, payment for work completed, liability limitations, and dispute resolution survive any termination of the Agreement.
12. Dispute Resolution
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand. Any dispute arising from or in connection with services provided by Ayutthaya Chronos is subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province.
Before commencing formal proceedings, both parties agree to attempt resolution through direct discussion. If you have a concern about work carried out, please contact us at [email protected] so that we may address it.
Where informal resolution is not possible, mediation through a mutually agreed mediator may be proposed by either party before court proceedings are initiated.
13. General Provisions
Entire agreement. This Agreement, together with any written service estimate issued by us, constitutes the full understanding between the parties regarding the subject matter hereof and supersedes all prior discussions.
Severability. If any provision of this Agreement is found unenforceable under applicable law, the remaining provisions continue in full effect.
Waiver. Our failure to exercise any right under this Agreement on a particular occasion does not constitute a waiver of that right in future circumstances.
Assignment. You may not assign your rights or obligations under this Agreement to a third party without our prior written consent. We may assign our obligations in the event of a business transfer, provided the incoming party accepts all existing service commitments.
Notices. Formal notices should be sent in writing to our workshop address or by email to [email protected]. Notices sent by email are treated as received on the next business day.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or the services we offer. The revised version will be published on this page with an updated effective date.
For active service engagements, the terms in effect at the time of intake apply unless we notify you of material changes and you choose to proceed under the revised terms.
